IPHONE PHOTOGRAPHY - REGISTRATION CLOSED

Learn to take exceptional photos with only your Iphone during this 2-hour workshop with a professional photographer, Bronson Kurtz.

You will learn about proper framing, correct lighting, and leading lines. Meeting at Cannon Park in Downtown Canton, you will draw inspiration from the historical buildings that make up the coolest town in America.

Sure an expensive camera is nice, but we do not always lug it around. This workshop helps you put the device you always have on hand to work - with the proper skills, you’ll be one step closer to becoming that content creator you’ve always dreamed of... or at least look like one!

Capturing a moment in pen and ink is always striking. Believe it or not, you can create a complete and total masterpiece using simply collections of dots, much like atoms make up our wondrous world around us. Points allow you to gain a much better grasp of how and where to shade to generate a more complete and stunning image.

Learn step by step how to add value, texture and dimension to your drawing through pointillism + shading.

*Please Note: We recommend taking this class for 2 consecutive sessions to ensure comprehension of this technique soak in to that beautiful brain of yours.

LEATHER WORKING WORKSHOP - REGISTRATION CLOSED

Make a leather shoulder bag of your choice or choose any TWO from the following:

• leather belt
• wallet
• passport wallet
• journal
• phone pouch w/ braided strap
• drawstring pouch

Learn techniques of cutting leather and stitching styles. If desired, you can learn how to use a wood-burning tool to inscribe a design directly onto the leather and then colorize it. All leathers, materials, tools, templates and instructions will be provided.

In this fun beginner level workshop you will focus on using traditional paint pouring techniques, without a paint brush, to create all sorts of amazing designs.

In this course you will learn the basics of both hand building and wheel pottery.

In hand building, we teach the methods of forming clay such as slab, coil, and pinch pots.

In wheel, throwing is introduced, along with how to wedge and center clay.

Do you want to be a film maker? A social media vlogger? Or produce stunning and creative videos for your business and/or family? If so, then YOU need to take this class. Every video and film, regardless of the format and genre, have one thing in common, and that is storytelling. Participants in this class will learn about the types of shots and cinematic techniques used in all films.

We'll work on different genres of films and videos....Family History, Short Films, Promotional Videos and more. The students will also be given a choice of several free video editors and a brief lesson in each one. No special equipment is needed. 

Cherokee County is a film-ready community and many people call Georgia the 'Hollywood of the South.' Join this class and let's make some movies!

INTRO TO WEAVING

WEDNESDAYS | NOVEMBER 3-DECEMBER 8 | 1:30-4:00 PM

This 6 week class is structured as an individual learning experience for students interested in their weaving skills, from beginners to intermediate levels.

Knowledge of planning a project and 'dressing' a loom is stressed for most beginning level students.

Emphasis on color and weave design is also part of the class. The studio has 6 floor looms and a large selection of yarn.

Pinch Pot Portraits Workshop

RETURNING JANUARY / FEBRUARY 2022

Instructor: Mike Lalone

You say you can't do portraits? Let's simplify the process so that you can be successful! Using the most simple forming process in clay, you will "pinch" your way to a proportional, realistic head sculpture. Form a human skull shape with three pinch pots and you will have the foundation for success! We will use two more pinch forms for the shoulders and neck.

We will then outline the proportions on the base form using the 1/2 to 1/3 ratios. No need for calipers or exact mathematical measurements! Plus, no need for fancy tools. 95% of the process uses your hands only.

Introduction to Pastel Painting

If you've always wanted to explore pastels but weren't sure where to start, this is the class for you. You will learn wonderful techniques, tips and tricks and will be guided in creating a beautiful landscape painting.

Watercolor

Beginners & Intermediate levels are welcome. Students will learn how to control watercolor, which is commonly thought to be elusive...with a mind of its own.  Whatever your skill level, you will see your work grow as you discover new directions in color & composition.  Through demonstrations, lecture, and individual critique you will experience a different approach to this provocative medium.

Oil/Acrylic Landscape Painting
 

Instructor: Tracy Edge Hume

No experience is necessary.

This class will concentrate on creating a traditional, abstract or representational landscape and will cover the basics of creating a painting from start to finish. We will cover color mixing, paint application, brushes, mediums, varnish and more. The student will be exposed to the different painting approaches used by most artists, helping the student create their own approach to painting.

Basic Digital Photography

Instructor: Kim Bates

This is an eight hour photographic learning experience featuring a "Hands On" approach to helping students to understand basic photographic principles, composition, exposure, lighting, creativity in photographic art, and their own digital camera. The course is divided into 4 two-hour sessions and will include assignments to practice what has been taught in each lesson. The emphasis will be to get the camera off of "Auto" and explore the creative possibilities in the amazing world of digital photography. Please bring your digital camera, camera manual, 4-6 recent photos printed or on your laptop and your creative mind.

Teen & Adult Drawing
 

Instructor: John Horne

Artists of all levels are encouraged to explore various mediums with hands-on demonstrations. This is progressive drawing class focused on teenage artists of all levels and an excellent choice for high school AP Studio & Portfolio Preparation. This class helps students who need to develop their work, focus skills and are looking to experiment with their portfolios. Highly recommended for junior and senior high school students. Students work in a project-based format to create 3 and 4 dimensional drawings! The basic tenets/principals of drawing and rendering are incorporated within the process and each project moves students further along in their development. Initially we work mostly from photos, which are student or instructor provided. Beginner to intermediate students draft outlines w/grids to better learn and create proportional perspective. Using large paper (18x24), initially in graphite/charcoal (vine & compressed), builds a an understanding of value, then on to color.
